PLANTAR FASCITIS
PLANTAR FASCITIS: this is a condition causes pain in the arch of your foot. Often times you will have pain when walking, standing, or running. Most often, you have severe pain when getting out of bed and trying to walk in the morning or after sitting for extended periods of time.
What is happening to cause this condition? Most often, your arch is falling and the foot is losing support. The bottom foot muscles are in a relaxed position when you are sitting or lying down. As you stand up, the muscles are being torn as the arch is collapsing to support the upright position. This causes inflammation of the foot which is causing the pain.
Medical Treatment Approaches: see a podiatrist for anti-inflammatories and possible steroid injections.
Alternative Treatment Approaches: custom foot orthotics to support the foot when standing, walking or running. Acupuncture, Ultra Sound, Muscle Stimulation, and Stretching of foot and calf. Chiropractic treatment for the alignment of the foot and hip to create a balanced center of gravity over the ankle.
